![]() ![]() The new tuning system was, at the time, frightening. ![]() The musical distances between every note on an instrument were so inconsistent that they often created, instead of music, something called "wolf sounds"- so named because they sounded like the howling of wolves. The old tuning system for all instruments was pretty awful. ![]() The first chapter begins by talking about the piano, and its versatility as an instrument, and how this once was not possible, because of a horrible little thing called the old tuning system. I've actually read beyond the first 3 chapters but, in keeping with the assignment, I'll just summarize the first 3 the best that I can. But this book really spoke to me in that way. I really was almost dreading this assignment, because I don't particularly enjoy me, and sometimes get annoyed when people try to connect math and art, when I see no real connection. ![]()
